Silchar, July 1: Based on secret inputs, OC Sonai and staff intercepted a Honda Dio scooty bearing number AS 11R/2268 on Thursday in front of Anukul temple at Ashram road under National Highway patrol post, and apprehended two persons who were trying to flee away from the spot.

Cachar SP Vaibhav Nimbalkar informed that during search, 20 bundles of suspected YABA tablets (Total 20,000 tablets) were recovered from their possession of the arrested youth identified as Bapan Rai, resident of Sib Colony in Rangirkhari and Nripesh Rai, a resident of Topoban Nagar, Ashram Road.

Further, police conducted a search operation at the residence of Ajoy Debnath at Rangirkhari wherein playing cards and some gambling materials were recovered. However, the person was absconding. "Action is being taken as per law to break the chain of narcotic drugs peddling in Silchar," the SP informed.
