Two succumb to COVID-19 at SMCH

Silchar, May 9: Two more elderly persons have succumbed to COVID-19 at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) on Sunday. According to SMCH authorities, among the deceased include a 79 year old man from North Tripura who passed away at 7:30 am while 60 year old from Ramnagar area who breathed her last at 5:30 pm. Hospital authorities informed that there are 191 active cases including 35 patients in the ICU under treatment at the hospital.


Meanwhile, sources at the District Health Department informed that a 24x7 control room has been opened for assistance to people for availing ambulance services. While 15 ambulances are kept for COVID care services, 16 ambulances can be used for non-COVID emergencies, sources added.
