Duliajan, May 28: Continuing with the crackdown on drug peddlers, Namrup DSP Kula Pradip Bhattacharjee successfully supervised another operation on May 27 at Naharkatia and caught two drug peddlers.
Based on information, a team of Naharkatia police led by Officer Incharge Bhaskarjyoti Saikia on Thursday conduct raid at the Shop of Rantu Das (21) at Daily Bazar, Naharkatia and recovered 5 gm suspected Heroine along with another drug paddler Zamil Qureshi (23)of Naharkatia Lachit Nagar. Later the police team searched their houses at Purani Gaon under Duliajan PS and Naharkatia and recovered empty plastic containers used for smuggling of Heroine. Interrogation is on to trace the forward and backward links.
It may be mentioned that after taking charge as SP Dibrugarh recently, Shwetank Mishra made it clear to show zero tolerance against illegal narcotics trade in the district.
Naharkatia police registered a case under the sections of 21A/25/27 of NDPS Act and sent the two peddlers to Dibrugarh District prison today.
