To find out unvaccinated persons, Cachar admin starts D2D survey

Silchar, Oct 5: At a time when the COVID-19 vaccination process is gaining momentum in Cachar district, the administration has started door to door surveys to trace out the unvaccinated persons.

A meeting was held on Monday at the DRDA Conference Hall, Silchar under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, IAS, Deputy Commissioner in the presence of Eldad Fairem, CEO, Zilla Parishad and ADC Kamal Baruah. Functionaries of the Health Department and Election Department were also present.

In the words of Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, "there may be some persons who could not turn up to the vaccination centres due to some reasons. We have to sort out their issues and arrange vaccination as per their convenience"

Further, seeking the support of the public, she said "if a single person is left out, he will be a threat to not only his family but also to the whole society."

Dr. Ashutosh Barman, Joint Director of Health Services, who is also a gynaecologist said, "After many rounds of research it has been found safe in pregnant women and lactating mothers as well. Hence, all pregnant women and lactating mothers should come forward to get their doses."

Suman Choudhury, the District Media Expert NHM informed that the BLOs and the ASHAs will move to each household not only to collect information but also to facilitate the unvaccinated persons to receive the doses. Choudhury added that till 8 pm on Monday, a total of 9, 61,796 beneficiaries had received their first dose and 3,34, 013 got their second dose of the vaccine.
