Three held with drugs worth Rs 12 crore in Karbi Anglong

Diphu, June 22: The Karbi Anglong Police again managed to seize huge contraband drugs worth over Rs 12 crores. According to reports, the drugs were seized from a Guwahati-bound night super bus bearing registration no MN-06 B 0511 during a routine checking last night around at 10 pm at Dilai police check gate.

The police sources said that during the regular checking the contraband Methamphetamine drugs weighing around 3 Kg was recovered by a Home Guard, Borsing Bey. The drug packets were kept concealed inside the engine cabin which was impossible to detect from outside. The market value of the drugs is expected to be over Rs 12 crores.

It may be mentioned here that a huge amount of bribe was also offered to the Home Guard for not disclosing the matter to his higher officials. However, the guard refused to take the money offered by the two women and sparing no more time he promptly informed the matter to his seniors. In this connection, the two Tamil women along with the driver were apprehended by the police.

According to police sources the traffickers had planned to deliver the consignment to Chennai. The apprehended women and the driver of the bus have been identified as Lashmi D, Panjabhiram and Khoiram Basanta Singha.
