Silchar, July 20: A 3-year-old minor died due to the disease at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) at 9am on Tuesday.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, vice principal of the hospital informed that the minor was a resident of Hailakandi district and was admitted to the hospital on Monday.

Till 5 pm on Tuesday, there are 72 COVID-19 active cases admitted at the hospital with 43 patients undergoing treatment at the COVID ICU. As many as 7 patients who were diagnosed with the virus were admitted at the hospital while 1 person was discharged from the hospital after recovery in the last one day, Dr Gupta informed.

On the other hand, sources in the District Health Department informed that 32 new cases of COVID-19 were detected till 5:30pm on Monday. As many as 6,758 persons were examined via the Rapid Antigen Tests in which 31 samples tested positive while one sample of RTPCR tests resulted to be positive, sources added.
