Seven more casualties at SMCH, 444 fresh COVID-19 cases detected in Cachar

Silchar, May 25: The unfortunate spell of patients from across Barak Valley found with COVID-19 positive infection while passing away remains unabated at the Silchar Medical College even on Tuesday as seven more casualties were reported till 5 pm.

According to Dr Bhaskar Gupta, vice principal of the hospital, among the seven, who died include one 35-year-old and an 81-year-old patient. 296 active cases are under treatment at the hospital, he informed.

On the other hand, till 6 pm, as many as 444 COVID-19 positive cases were reported on Tuesday from across Cachar district.

Meanwhile, the Cachar district administration has intensified sanitisation activities across the district while sources informed that testing of even shopkeepers and vegetable vendors have been conducted in far off places as well.
