Silchar, Aug 27: Assam Police will provide more security to the workers on assignment for construction of a road stretch at Khulicherra, approximately 800 meters from Lailapur on the Assam-Mizoram border, said Cachar SP Ramandeep Kaur.

On Friday, Kaur informed that even as Lailapur is peaceful per se, there have been obstructions put on the PMGSY road construction. "Amidst the obstructions, today a camp has been constructed by the Mizo people at the last point of the construction which is well within the territory of Assam. We are taking necessary measures in terms of security movement in the area for the construction work to be completed," the SP maintained.

It may be recalled that on July 26, six jawans of Assam Police sacrificed their lives in the interstate clash at Lailapur which also left former Cachar SP Vaibhav Nimbalkar and several policemen severely injured.
