Scuffle along Assam-Mizoram border in Cachar leaves over 10 injured

Silchar, July 26: Amidst the ongoing border boundary dispute between Assam and Mizoram, fresh tension broke out along the interstate border at Lailapur area in Cachar district after over 10 persons including some police persons and civilians were left with injuries in a scuffle on Monday.

Sources informed that stones were pelted in which the Assam police persons and a few civilians sustained injuries. According to sources, at a place between Vairengte in Mizoram and Lailapur in Assam the convoy of Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli was also targeted by miscreants along the border. She faced stiff resistance during her visit at the interstate border.

Till this report was filed, a tense situation is prevailing along the interstate border. However, no casualties have been reported so far. The injured persons have been rushed to Dholai BPHC and some of them have been referred to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
