Guwahati, Feb 26: The obsolete railway transit point of Mahisashan located in Karimganj, Assam will be revived by the Railway department by December this year.

Anshul Gupta, General Manager of North East Frontier Railway (NF Railway), informed that the department is planning to revive the defunct Mahisasan zero point by December this year.

As per reports, Gupta was quoted as saying that a team visited the site and monitored the safety measures of the trains.

He further asserted that railway connectivity will be expanded to Bangladesh and efforts are on to start the connectivity to Mahisasan zero point by the end of this year.

The Mahisasan Railway station holds significance as it can play an important role in the development of the Northeastern region of India and strengthen India's bilateral trade and transit connectivity with Bangladesh. Located along with the adjoining Kushiyara River and the Mahisashan-Shahbajpur route, it has been non-operational since 1966.
