Diphu, July 19: Forces on surveillance duty at Dillai police check post have recovered 120 grams of heroin from a Maruti Swift vehicle on Monday during routine check. The incident took place amid Assam Home Minister's drugs blazing agenda continuing in full public view.
Police claimed that the driver of the vehicle Ickramul Haque concealed the heroin in a packet underneath the seat, and the banned drugs were brought from Dimapur city of Nagaland and he was departing for Nagaon district.
According to police, the heroin was split in ten soap cases and was parcelled in a single packet. The approximate cost of the seized heroin will be around forty lakhs rupees in Indian currency. The incident took place at the infamous Manipur-Guwahati route.
