Nagaon, June 1: Following the death of a COVID patient, a mob comprising of his relatives and other locals allegedly created ruckus at Lanka Fultoli Model Hospital today and beaten up the on-duty doctor as well as two nursing staff.
In the attack of the irate mob, the on-duty physician named Dr Seuj Senapati had sustained serious injury for which he was referred to Guwahati Medical College Hospital this afternoon for better treatment, sources added. Sources claimed that one COVID patient named Giasuddin had died of COVID 19 on Tuesday. Alleging his death due to alleged negligence of physician as well as nursing staff, the family members and some other people from his native village went on a rampage and vandalised the Fultoli Model Hospital.
Besides, the irate mob leaped on the the on-duty physician Dr Seuj Senapati and other other sisters who were too on duty at that time. Meanwhile police from Lanka PS rushed to the spot and were able to bring the situation under control, sources added.
