Palican colony of KNP opened for the tourists

Bokakhat, Oct 30: Agoratoli range under Kaziranga National Park, remarkably famous for its 478 kinds of various birds especially known as pelican colony was formally opened by Dr. Neha Ahmed, Sub Divisional Officer of Bokakhat on Friday for tourists at a brief function in presence of P Siva Kumar, Director, Ramesh Gogoi DFO of the Park, naturalists and concerned officials.


Due to late spate of flood the park could not be opened for tourists entirely. It needs to be mentioned that with the different water bodies mainly the Chohola beel existed in the range has made the area more convenient to stay for the pelicans which are considered to be most attractive for the tourists in winter. As reported by the park authority more than fifteen thousand tourists have already visited the park till now. On the other hand the KNP authority is all set to provide elephant-safari facilities from the first week of November for foreign and native tourists with 40 elephants i,e 12 of KNP authority and 28 from private parties at Mihimukh under Kohora and Bagori range respectively.


It needs be mentioned that the SDO (C) of Kaliabor Pabitra Kumar Das and DFO, Nagaon jointly opened the Bandordubi tourist spot under Bagori Range that connected with KNP's area and the Burhapahar range had been opened by social activist Mangal Sing Teron and Parthapratim Barman Revenue Circle Officer, Kaliabor with DS Barman. It is expected that after the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic the forest oriented tourist industry would take a new momentum where several youths have taken this job as bread earning source being engaged themselves in jeep safari, hotel business and other connected jobs.
