Silchar, Jun 6: In a latest development, the patient who was detected with black fungal infection and had complications particularly in one of his eyes at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) has been referred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital(GMCH).

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH said "the patient has developed difficulties in one of eyes and also there are impressions of some neurological complications for which he might need neurosurgical treatment. He has been referred to GMCH." Sources said that the patient with post-COVID detection of Black Fungal complication is on the way to Guwahati.

It may be mentioned that in SMCH, there is no neurosurgical unit as yet for treatment of such critical cases.
