Hailakandi, Sep 4: Amidst tension in border, NF Railway has decided to run inter-state passenger special train from Silchar to Bhairabi (Mizoram) via Hailakandi from September 10. The daily passenger train connecting Mizoram was discontinued one and a half years back due to coronavirus pandemic.

NF Railway sources informed that the passenger special trains number 05567 and 05568 will run twice in the week from Friday. The train will start from Silchar and will stop in 13 more stations upto Bairabi in Mizoram. After starting from Silchar, the train will stop at Arunachal, Salchapra, Katakhal, Algapur, Hailakandi, Monacherra, Lalabazar, Mohamedpur, Katlicherra, Monipurbagan, Jamira and New Ramnathpur.

It can be mentioned here that the inter-state connecting train between Assam and Mizoram played crucial role to boost up trade in the area as most of the vegetable vendors of Southern Hailakandi used the train to bring their goods in the markets. Various organisations demanded to run the train atleast five days in a week.
