New guidelines for controlling COVID-19 situation in Assam to be announced tomorrow

Guwahati, May 11: New guidelines and restrictions will be announced for controlling the COVID 19 situation in Assam on Wednesday, State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said here today.

Briefing the media at the end of the first Cabinet meeting of the new government, Mahanta said, "The COVID 19 situation in the State was discussed in detail in the meeting today. The new guidelines and other regulations for controlling the situation will be announced by the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police tomorrow at 11 AM."

The new guidelines are likely to be implemented from the day after tomorrow, he hinted.

Mahanta further said the Cabinet has decided to announce a financial package for the State if restrictions due to the COVID 19 situation have to be extended beyond 15 more days.

The State has been witnessing a massive surge in daily new COVID 19 cases and deaths, and night curfew and several other restrictions are already in force in the State.
