National Press Day observed in Bokakhat subdivision

Bokakhat, Nov 16: Under the aegis of Bokakhat civil administration , Bokakhat Press Club Bokakhat subdivisional Journalist Union along with press and electronic media the National Press Day has been celebrated with a limited programme at the conference hall of the subdivision's office.

The SDO(c) i/c Souvik Dutta started the programme by illuminating a lamp while Monjit Doley, Asstt.Commissioner i/c SDIPRO" presented a welcome address". Jitu Sarma Rajkhowa, president of Assam Rajyik Sambadik Santha expressed the significance of the day. He also remembered some of the journalists who had been murdered brutally by miscreants in the last two decade. Uttam Saikia, senior journalist, introduced the guests and anchored the meeting.

In the interaction between the invited speakers and media persons some experiences and problems they faced while filing report had been expressed relating to the subject" Who is not afraid of media especially with the persons who have been serving under various public interest departments. Addressing the meeting Dr. Jayanta Gogoi Principal of Bokakhat JDSG college hinted some major problems faced by the journalists at the time of reporting in the last dreaded pandemic Covid -19 period who performed their duty as front line activists.


With a reference to the knowledge-acquiring matter for the preparation of competitive exams like UPSC he also focused on the role of the national newspaper like The Hindus and highly popular paper The Assam Tribune, one of the oldest newspapers.


Dr. Gogoi further said that they are not afraid of the media but with respect they sought advice and cooperation for the upliftment of the institution as well as the students. SDPO of the subdivision Anita Hazarika spoke about various crimes and police cases in regard to the report to be filed by the journalists while these have been under investigation etc. Deputy Conservator of Forest KS DekaRaja, Parismita Dihingia Election Officer also participated in the discussion Dr. Bharat Phukan SDM; HO of Swahid Kamala Miri Hospital ,Bokakhat in his brief speech lauded and boldly admitted the wholehearted effort of electronic and press media during the last two spate of Covid-19 period.


Dr.Phukan fervently appealed to the media to highlight any matter only going through the reality. From the galaxy of reporters who spoke on the occasion were Dr.Babulal More ,Bubul Dutta,Achyut Hazarika. Swapan Nath etc.
