Mizoram constructs road in Assam; huge security deployed along state border

Hailakandi, Nov 23: Huge security forces have been deployed in Haticherra area of Assam-Mizoram border in Hailakandi district following the starting of road constructions by Mizoram. Hailakandi superintendent of police, Gaurav Upadhyay confirmed the development and said that both civil and police administration have discussed the matter with their counterparts in Kolasib district of Mizoram and informed in details.

It can be mentioned here that the matter of road construction in Haticherra area by the Mizos came into light after the survey conducted by the police and forest officials of Hailakandi district with the help of villagers on Sunday.

The MLA of Katlicherra, Suzam Uddin Laskar alleged that the people of Mizoram already captured eight kms of Assam land for the purpose of construction of roads. He demanded immediate action of sate government. Laskar also held discussion with the commissioner of Barak Valley, Neera Gogoi Sonowal regarding the construction of road in Haticherra. Laskar informed that the area is unreachable due to its geographical location and very difficult to reach from Assam side.
