Miscreants attack picnic-goers in Barpeta; FIR lodged

Guwahati, Jan 18: An irate mob attacked a group of 36 picnic-goers in Assam's Barpeta district on January 17.

Reportedly, the incident took place in Lurfuria area of Barpeta when a mob of 20 people attacked the picnic-goers who were returning in a bus from the picnic site.

The angry mob halted the bus that was carrying a group of 36 picnic-goers and barged into the vehicle. Soon after, they started attacking the people in the bus, following which some persons have sustained injuries.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged at Barpeta Sadar Police Station.

Some of the victims have identified the attackers and claimed that the miscreants belong to a nearby village of Barpeta district.
