Diphu, Sept 3: Incident of rape and murder of a minor girl and another nine year girl who has remained untraced since last six days in village Lokhiram Rongphar located within the general area of Upper Doigrung, under authority of Chockihola police station of Karbi Anglong district has become cause of concern in entire region.
On August 28, Saturday both the girls went missing and subsequently body of the 11-year-old girl was retrieved from the adjacent forest of the village on Monday. Grounds of the ghastly occurrence have remained an obscurity till now, after six days of the incident. According to police both the girls went fishing during day time and didn't return home after nightfall, after preliminary search all through the night the matter was reported to them next day.
The body of the eleven year minor was recovered from a nearby forest covered with bamboo leafs, tarnished with bloodstains and wound marks. Apparently it appeared to be a rape and murder incident. The body of the girl during recovery was unclothed and her skull contained multiple injury marks. After six days of the gruesome incident, the whereabouts of the other nine year girl have remained unknown, although a massive search is still continuing in the entire forested vicinity of Koilamati.
Even though the incident came about on Saturday the local police was clued-up on Sunday and a missing report was filed afterwards, police registered a case under sections 303, 201, 34 of IPC. Basically search picked up on Monday encircling the entire forested area. Police are in the offing for the autopsy report to confirm if the girl was sexually assaulted before being murdered.
The Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang has given an amount of fifty thousand rupees to the victim's family as immediate relief. Ronghang has expressed deep concern for the deceased's nine year-old friend who has remained traceless till now. He has condemned the incident and has assured that the culprit will be arrested. In the intervening time, local police and members of Karbi Students Association are continuing to search for the missing girl in all possible areas.
Most bizarrely condemn-able incident has invited insignificant or not worth mentioning amounts of public outrage till now. The typical righteous anger from social organisation is also deficient and missing till now. Women's organisations and human right activists have not articulated predictable resentment on the ghastly incident of rape and murder where criminal and antisocial elements of the locality are suspected to be involved.
Oddly the customary and natural media-trial is also misplaced in this tragic incident.
