Mangaldai April 13: In yet another incident of Assam Police encounter one Taijuddin Ahmed (32), a resident of Sanowa Tari village under Sipajhar Police Station in Darrang district has been killed near his residence in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as the mastermind of the recent murder and dacoity incident at Chatribari under Paltan Bazaar Police Station of Guwahati.

According to police, Taijuddin after being arrested on Tuesday was taken to his residence in Sipajhar to carry out some search operations at night. However, during operations at some point of time, he brings out a country made pistol from under a bush and suddenly opened fire at the police team.

The police opened fire in self-defense injuring him critically. He was rushed to the civil hospital here where he was declared brought dead. Police has seized the fire arms and also a cash amount of Rs 60,000 from his possession. Later post mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to his family.
