Silchar, Sept 23: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, in his recent visit to Cachar district, had mentioned that people belonging to the cultural and social work fraternity must take up programmes to spread awareness and motivate people to get vaccinated to keep the menace of COVID-19 at bay.

Members of Lions of Silchar Greater and its youth wing Leo Club of Silchar Greater including Ananda Ghosh, president Lions Club Silchar Greater, Anup Dutta, immediate past president Lions Club Siilchar Greater cum zone chairperson of Lion District 322G Debosmita Biswas, charter president Leo Club of Silchar Greater cum zone chairperson of Leo District 322G, Neha Chakraborty, president Leo Club of Silchar Greater and Sibam Das, Communication and Marketing chairperson Lions Club of Silchar Greater were seen on the streets of Silchar on Thursday with leaflets carrying messages of the benefits of being vaccinated against COVID-19. Maintaining COVID appropriate behaviour, the young members interacted with the vendors at the Rangirkhari market convincing them to get themselves vaccinated.

"We are going through a crucial phase. We must understand that vaccination is a must for everyone and carrying forward this message we have begun our humble effort to educate the masses. Even after so much damage done by the virus, while many are rushing to get vaccinated, there are many who maintain a sceptical stance regarding the jabs which need to be dispelled with more awareness. We have undertaken this drive in the urban area for now and soon we shall rush towards the rural parts of the district," said Sabyasachi Rudra Gupta, charter president of Lions Club Silchar Greater cum region chairperson Lions Club district 322G.
