Diphu, Aug 14: Last consignment of Kuki National Liberation Army (KLNA), the militant outfit which choose to put-up resistance and shorn of from bidding farewell to arms so long, finally submitted before the authority at Sehjang village under Dillai police station, Bokajan subdivision of Karbi Anglong district during noon hours yesterday; the village is located at high altitude of Singhason hill range.


Joining of the Kuki militant outfit with the mainstream just ahead of the Independence Day, has boosted the morals of general people of Karbi Anglong and has sent an upsetting message to the last remaining underground militant groups. The ceremonial decommissioning of arms took place in presence of senior police officers with the exception of media presence.


According to police reports, twenty-seven cadres of the outfit gave up with seventeen weapons. Assorted weaponries included four assault rifles, five pistols and six country-made guns, which were laid down before DIG central range and Karbi Anglong police.


This splinter group of United People's Revolutionary Front, commanded by Martin, who later rechristened themselves as Kuki National Liberation Army and other names have been giving way in peewee groups since last year.
