Diphu, Nov 3: Karbi Anglong police established a unique benchmark to showcase for serenity and tranquillity as come back to Karbi Anglong which otherwise was well-known as a rebel influence region until recent time.

The unique expedition was initiated by Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong Pushparaj Singh to mark the signing of a momentous peace accord between Government of India and six armed insurgent groups of Karbi Anglong on September 4 in New Delhi. Before that the insurgent groups decommissioned its arsenal on 23rd February 2020 before Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal at Kalakhetra international auditorium, Guwahati.

The only one of its kind standard was registered by fifteen daring personnel of Assam Police on October 31 when they reached Borpung, Tarapung and Dolamara town on a walking expedition from the nearest urban settlement of Bakalia around sixty three kilometers from the headquarter town of Diphu.

The entire hilly terrain covered by thick forest and marshy land is legendary for its once treacherous stranglehold of armed insurgent organizations. This immeasurable area practically could never be subjugated or subdued by any occupying force in the long bloody history of insurgency in the autonomous hill region of Assam.

The police team covered the entire length on foot touching number of tribal rural community which used to be the nightmare for the security forces for the booby traps and ambush points; the perfidious hilly track provided numerous advantageous positions for waylaying the special forces, however the nightmarish and terrifying reminiscences of the expedition squad turned out to be a poles apart figment of the imagination. They arrived in the valley of tranquility and harmony at the break of dawn; a group of cushy cheery faces welcomed them in their land with stretched out hands.
