Karbi Anglong DIET receives influential award

Diphu, Sept 19: The District Institute of Education & Training, Karbi Anglong has been given the celebrated award of 'District Green Champion Certificate for 2020-21' by Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education Government of India. The acknowledgement was made for accomplishing the 'Beat COVID Campaign' commenced by MGNCRE, Hyderabad.


In the Beat COVID Campaign, District Institute of Education & Training, Karbi Anglong represented five teams of student volunteers in hospital management, non-hospital management; support to COVID affected families, medical supplies, psychosocial support to Covid-19 patients and their family members. The teams volunteered their effort from June 6 to 25.


The District Institute of Education & Training, Karbi Anglong also fruitfully constituted the Swachhta Action Plan Committee, took up and put into practice sanitation, hygiene, waste management, water management, energy management and greenery management.


Principal of DIET, Kakrai Teronpi, received the certificate from the principal secretary of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Mukul Kr. Saikia ACS on last Wednesday at an impressive ceremony in presence of secretary of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Nirola Phangchopi ACS and joint secretary, Tenson Engti.


The institution has also received appreciation from MGNCRE, Ministry of Education, Government of India, for encouraging occupational schooling and empirical education and community engagement in teacher's education. Bobby Ronghangpi and Junaka Rongpharpi implicated the student volunteer teams as nodal officers of MGNCRE, and performed as mentors of the sanitation & hygiene team.


Samujjal Borah was the mentor of the waste management team, Raju B. Brahma was mentor of the water management team, Rakesh Hajarika was the mentor of the energy conservation team and Swapna Das was mentor of the greenery campus team.
