KAAC submits memo to State govt seeking to boost tourism sector

Diphu, Sept 29: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is taking up a comprehensive initiative to boost its tourism sector considering its natural potential for shaping up the two autonomous hills districts comprising East and West Karbi Anglong as a traveller's hub of northeast India. In this regard a memorandum was submitted by the KAAC authority to the government of Assam especially to the Minister of Tourism Department.


The KAAC through the memorandum has sought active assistance and support of Assam government to enhance its tourism segment. Lunsing Teron Executive Member (EM) in charge of tourism department functioning under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) placed a memorandum to Minister of Tourism, Assam government Bimal Bora on World Tourism Day function organised by Assam government at Srimanta Sankar International Auditorium, Kalakshetra , Guwahati on Monday.

Tourism Minister Bimal Borah received the memo from Executive Member Lunsing Teron, Secretary of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Nirola Phangchopi, Tenson Engti and Deputy Director of Tourism Mirjeng Ronghang. The team of legislators and bureaucrats of council also took part in the official function.

An exposition stall was initiated by the tourism department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council at Kalakshetra auditorium to showcase Karbi Anglong's cultural heritage, ethnic traditional attire of communities and soon-to-be tourist destinations of the district. Cultural troops of Karbi Anglong presented traditional dance programs in the function of World Tourism Day.

Prominent persons who attained the celebration in Kalakshetra were Promod Boro Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Council, Vice-Chairman of Assam Tourism Development Corporation Navadeep Kalita, Additional Chief Secretary of Assam Tourism Paban Kumar Borthakur, Commissioner and Secretary Assam Tourism Rajvee Hussain and Director of Assam Tourism Madhusmita Bhagwati.
