By Correspondent

Diphu, Aug 6: After the aggressive pushback of the West Jaintia Hills District officials from Jatalong and Saboda locality of West Karbi Anglong autonomous district on last Wednesday by the people of the locality both Assam and Meghalaya government has resorted to settlement mood to resolve susceptive border issue in more sensitive manner and not through overbearing frame of mind.

Top brass of the West Jaintia Hills district administration and West Karbi Anglong district autonomous district administration held an official discussion at the conference hall of Hamren circuit house, the headquarter town of West Karbi Anglong autonomous district today. The official twitter handle Hamren Police has informed that 'a joint border coordination meeting was held today between the DCs-SsP of West Karbi Anglong district and West Jaintia Hills District in Hamren, West Karbi Anglong with a view for coordination on border issues'.

Both the sides were represented by Deputy Commissioner ranked officers and top cop of the district who were assisted by officials of various line departments related to land, border and forest subjects. After the fruitful discussion both the side agreed to cease all developmental works in the undecided borderline neighborhoods and maintain 'status quo ante' until a logical conclusion of the vexed issue is agreed upon by both the states.

It may be mention here that local unit of Karbi Students' Association and several civil organizations of the Block two zone of West Karbi Anglong district prevented a team of Meghalaya government officials from conducting a land survey at Sabuda region in Assam Meghalaya border on Wednesday. Consequently natives of the locality blocked the road at Jatalong where Meghalaya police and government officials came in large numbers to carry out land evaluation.

Block one and two of West Karbi Anglong district have remained as an uncertain section between the two states since last decade and bilateral discussion on various echelon between the states remained unsuccessful in resolving the issue so far.
