Injured Cachar SP airlifted to Mumbai for further treatment, 3 cops flown to GMCH

Silchar, July 27: Cachar SP Vaibhav Nimbalkar who sustained grave injuries during the clash with miscreants at Assam-Mizoram interstate border on Monday has been airlifted to Mumbai for further treatment.

Doctors at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed on Wednesday that the SP had femur fracture and has been flown to Mumbai via an Indian Air Force special aircraft. Police personnels Gopeshwar Sinha with femur fracture , A Roy with injury in his hand and Jevan Mech who was hit on leg were referred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. The injured police officials were airlifted to Guwahati in two seperate air ambulances, sources said.

Another police official Shyam Sundar Dusad who was hit on the stomach is reportedly in critical condition and has been under treatment at the ICU of the hospital. Depending on his health condition, the patient may be airlifted to Guwahati on Wednesday, doctors at the hospital informed.

Meanwhile, even as there were no reports of any fresh clashes at the interstate border on Tuesday, people in Dholai and Kabuganj areas staged a road blockade by burning tyres as a mark of protest over Monday's incident.
