Heroin worth Rs 3.33 Cr seized in Hailakandi, 2 traffickers arrested

Hailakandi, June 14: Hailakandi police recovered 555 grams of heroin and arrested two traffickers. Police sources said that the price of the seized heroin is about rupees 3.33 crore in the international market.


The two arrested traffickers are Sahajan Hussain Laskar (27 years) and Amirul Ajad Laskar (19 years) along with a Yamaha SZ 150 motorbike bearing registration no MZ-05A-3149. Getting information from secret sources, police searched the motor bike in Assam-Mizoram bordering Boldaboldi area under Ramnathpur police station and seized the heroin. Police sources said that they were on the way to Mizoram with the drugs.'On basis of source information during naka checking on Sunday near Paloicherra Masjid on NH 06 had detained two persons and found the drugs', said the officer-in-charge of Ramnathpur Police station, Liton Nath.

A case has been registered in Ramnathpur police station and investigation is on, police said. The raid was conducted as per the instructions of police super Ramandeep Kaur and was led by incharge of Civil Hospital Outpost, Tridib Kumar Bora. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma expressed satisfaction for the recovery of heroin and asked the police to continue their war against drugs.
