Hailakandi wins best city in innovation, best practices

Hailakandi, Nov 21: Hailakandi town of Barak Valley in South Assam has won the best 'city in innovation and best practices' in the category of 25-50,000 population.

Nine cities of Assam have won the various awards in different categories in the Northeastern zone under the Swachh Survekshan 2021 of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The award was presented by the President in New Delhi on Saturday. Besides, six more municipalities of Assam have won the awards in different categories. Golaghat Municipality has earned the honor of being the cleanest city in the category of 25+50,000 population while Jorhat Municipality has won the best self sustained town.

Tezpur, Bongaigaon and Tinsukia have won the cleanest city, best city in innovation and best practices (in 50,000 to 1 lakh population) and fastest mover city awards respectively.

Kokrajhar has won the best self-sustained city in the 25-50,000 population category while Haflong town has won the fastest mover city in the 25-50,000 population category. Lakhipur town of Cachar district has won the best self sustainable city award in the 25,000 category population.
