Hailakandi, Sept 11: More than three hundred young boys and girls representing various youth clubs participated in the Freedom Run as a part of Azadl Ka Amrit Mahotsab-India @75 in Hailakandi on Saturday organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS).

The theme of the programme was "Jan Bhagidari to Jan Andolon" in order to encourage people to take up fitness activities and sports in their daily life. The three kms long 'Freedom Run' started from Shaid Bedi at 8.00 am and ended at Indoor Stadium at 9-15 am. It was flagged off by the district development commissioner Ranajit Kumar Laskar. Prior to the start of the run, a fitness oath was administered to the participants followed by the performance of the National Song.

The certificates were distributed among others by the deputy director of NYKS Kalpana Gangopadhyay, CRPF commandant Jasvir Singh, Border DSP Nirmal Ghosh, National Youth Awardee Abdus Subhan Barbhuiya, Yagneswar Deb, S Bhattacharjee, Manab Chakraborty, Swapnodeep Sen, Shankar Choudhury and Dr. MH Khandakar.
