Guwahati, March 23: The State Election Commission announced the poll schedule for the Guwahati Municipal Corporation on Wednesday. The State capital will go to vote on April 19 and counting of votes will take place on April 21.
The code of conduct for election came into force in areas under GMC limits with immediate effect. While the last date for filing nominations will be March 30. Nominations will be scrutinised by April 1 and the last date for withdrawing nominations will be April 4. Voting will be held on April 19 and counting will be taken up on April 21.
Polling will be held for 60 seats and out of which 50 per cent seats will be reserved for women, stated a notification issued by the State Election Commissioner Alok Kumar.
