Guwahati, Jan 15: An alleged ATM robber was injured in police firing in Goalpara district in Assam. The incident took place in Nayapara area of the district.
The accused was identified as Mussadik Hussain, a resident of Krishnai, Goalpara.
Reportedly, Hussain has been alleged of being involved in an ATM robbery following which the police have initiated an inquiry. Later on the basis of CCTV footage Hussain was identified and tracked down.
A team of police reached his residence at Nayapara, however, Hussain has allegedly attempted to flee from the spot. Even though the police intercepted him he did not stop and the police resorted to "controlled firing".
Husain was injured during the police firing and later he was arrested. Currently, he is undergoing medical treatment in a local hospital in Goalpara.
