Former vice-principal of GC College Dr JK Sen passes away

Silchar, Sep 14: Eminent educationist and former vice-principal of Guru Charan College Silchar Dr Jahar Kanti Sen breathed his last at around 8 am on Tuesday at his Chengkuri road residence here. At 77, he was battling with age-related ailment. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.

Known for his vast knowledge in English literature, Dr Sen, former head, Department of English at Guru Charan College was much revered among his colleagues. He also rendered his duties as the vice-principal of the college before his retirement in 2004. Among his students, he was popularly known as JK Sen sir. His death has cast a pall of gloom among the academic circuit of the valley as academicians termed his passing away as irreparable loss to the students and teaching fraternity at large.

His mortal remains were taken to Guru Charan College and Vivekananda College wherein faculty members and staff paid their last tributes with moist eyes and recollected memories of the legendary teacher of English literature. He was later cremated at the Silchar crematorium.
