Silchar, Aug 6: Former Joint Director of Health Services at Guwahati Dr Hari Prasad Sinha breathed his last at 4pm at his College Road residence in Silchar on Friday. He was 93. He is survived by two sons and one daughter.
His elder son Colonel Biswajit Sinha, a retired Army official informed that Dr Sinha was the first man among the entire Bishnupriya Manipuri community to accomplish the MBBS degree. "My father served in Indian Army as a major during the Emergency Commission from 1962-1965.
There after, he joined the Assam Government and continued to serve in various places till 1990 when he retired as the Joint Director Health Services," Biswajit Sinha said, adding that Dr Sinha had also rendered his duties at the Civil Surgeon in Cachar district.
Family sources informed that the last rites of Dr Sinha would be performed in the ancestral home at Chiparsangan in Hailakandi district on Saturday.
