Silchar, Aug 8: Minister of Forest and Environment Parimal Suklabaidya on Sunday lauded the efforts of nine year old Abhinab Deb to plant 1000 saplings across his residence in Dwarbond area under Borjalenga GP under Dholai constituency of Cachar district.

"I am elated to know about Abhinab's initiative and concern about environment. I also appreciate the encouragement his parents have been giving him for the noble work. His pledge to plant at least 1000 saplings in indeed commendable and I wish him all luck in the endeavor. On behalf of my Department, we would take steps to hounour and motivate the little boy for his efforts towards green environment," Suklabaidya said as he joined Abhinab in plantation drive.

It may be recalled that amidst the ambience of rising need for oxygen cylinders to support COVID-19 afflicted patients, Abhinab, a student of class-III, on his 9th birthday on July 2 this year had taken an initiative to plant trees around his home. "We get oxygen from trees and all of us must plant trees which," Abhinav had said.
