Ensure 100 pc vax before Durga Puja, Cachar DC tells Gaon Panchayats

Silchar, Oct 2: Ahead of the Durga Puja festivities, the Cachar District Administration has urged the Gaon Panchayat representatives to ensure 100 per cent vaccination of doses among the dwellers under respective jurisdiction before October 10.

In a meeting with the Gaon Panchayat presidents of the district at the conference hall of the DRDA here on Friday, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli urged them to look into the area and ensure that people within the respective GPs are vaccinated to keep the possibilities of further spread of COVID-19 at bay, especially during the Durga Puja festivities.

"Our Health Department is trying their best to cover everyone before Durga Puja but the public needs to come forward," Jalli said. She appreciated the GP president of Arkatipur for achieving 95 per cent vaccination.

She also requested all PRIs to mobilise the public for enrolling themselves under Aadhar card before December this year as some of the Government schemes subscriptions requires Aadhar card. There is no age bar for applying for Aadhar card and hence entire family can get the requisite cards. She thanked them for offering GP offices as Aadhar centres.

In the meeting, Cachar Zilla Parishad president Amitabh Rai informed that double vaccination has become mandatory for many schemes. Thus, GPs in which 100 per cent vaccination will be covered before 10th October; will be rewarded by Zilla Parishad. It was further stated that all government schemes for individual benefit, ration, and pension shall be put on hold for those who have not been vaccinated yet.

It was also discussed in the meeting that NABARD is trying to implement one community tank in every revenue village but due to lack of khas land it is not possible. District Fishery Development Officer requested all PRIs to arrange for 10 bighas of community-owned land in their revenue villages for implementation of the scheme.

Further,officials also discussed that as per 15th Finance Commission guidelines, tied funds may be utilised for providing drinking water, toilets, drainages etc. In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner requested all GPs and APs to take necessary action to include construction of toilets under the 15th Finance Commission in all government institutions like schools, Anganwadi centres, health centres, circle offices etc with special emphasis on toilets for ladies. Moreover, the GP offices to be strengthened with conference hall/community hall along with separate toilets for men and women, sources said.
