Guwahati, Jan 3: The special drive initiated by the Assam Government to prevent drinking and driving will continue during Bihu, announced Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
This comes following the success of the recent initiative undertaken by the Assam Police against drunk driving on New Year's Eve. The drive resulted in zero accident cases in Guwahati on the last day of the year.
While addressing the media, Sarma stated that the police will continue with the drive against drunk driving and the same rules will be applicable on the night of Uruka, which is usually celebrated on January 13.
He further informed that the police will be constantly monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of the commuters and strict action will be taken against the violators.
