Dhubri, July 29: Dhubri Police on Thursday launched a campaign against the ongoing reign of fear in the entire district relating to rumors of a gang of prowl, 'Black-Man'.
According to the rumors, a gang of prowl dressed in black has been attacking and robbing people at night. This rumor has spread all over the district and has intensified in the last few days, to such a level that people have been coming out at night to guard their society, in hundreds .
It may be mentioned that due to the rumors, mobs have even attacked police and injured them. However, to control the situation in the entire District Dhubri District police have launched a publicity campaign, requesting people not to believe in 'Black Man', rumours.
"The entire incident about Black Man is false, there is no basis regarding it. We are requesting people not to believe in any news regarding Black Man.", said Abhijit Gurav, Dhubri SP. He also asked people not to believe in news on Social media on Black Man.
"We are using our Public Addressing System in every nook and corner of the district to make people aware of these rumours", Gurav added.
However Gurav also informed that strict action will be taken against the people who are spreading rumors.
