Dhubri, May 26: The Dhubri Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), has issued an emergency alert in the entire district of Dhubri and South Salmara Mankachar, over Cyclone Storm Yaas.

The authorities have predicted Cyclone Storm will affect the people of both the districts with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. A letter from the Addl Deputy Commissioner cum CEO, DDMA, Dhubri also states that thunderstorms with lightning and gusty wind are expected at isolated places.

"We have received a message from the higher authority to remain alert. Accordingly we have sent the message to all the concerned circle officers, Deputy Controller Civil defense, all station officers, fire and emergency offices, volunteers, field officers to remain alert.", said M. Sarkar, Project Officer DDMA.

He also added that the warning is in between 26th May midnight to 27th May and there are chances of some damages due to the storm in many parts of Dhubri and South Salmara district. "Although the effects may not be massive, there are chances of damage' ', said Sarkar and said "We are completely ready for the same to tackle any kind of disaster, due to the upcoming cyclone".

Meanwhile, it has been predicted that the effect and damages of the Yaas Cyclone will be more in the District of South Salmara Mankachar.
