Hailakandi, August 17: Tension prevailed in Serispore Tea Estate of Hailakandi district following the pelting of stones on Monday night.The deputy commissioner of Hailakandi, Rohan Kumar Jha clamped indefinite curfew from 10 pm on Monday in Serispore TE and three other nearby villages, namely, Itarkandi, Narainpur and Chandpur untill further order.

Some people have received injury and some shops have also been damaged. irate people damaged motorbikes in Serispur market area. A police team immediately rushed to the spot and blank fired to disperse the irate people. The exact reason of the starting of pelting stones by the two groups is yet to be ascertained.

Large number of devotees were gathered in Lengti Kali Mandir in the main area of Serispore when the tussle started. Sources said that the tussle started infront of the temple after a collision between an auto and e-rickshaw. Senior officials hold discussion with the locals to ease the situation.

The district development commissioner of Hailakandi, Ranajit Kumar Laskar claimed the situation is tense but under control.
