Silchar, May 26: The patient admitted at the COVID-19 ward at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) who had fled from the hospital on Wednesday morning was brought back to the hospital by police on the same evening.

According to police, on the basis of the complaint filed by the SMCH authorities, the patient was traced at his residence in Mazumder Bazar in Tarapur area and the medical team brought the patient back to the COVID-19 ward where he was admitted.


However, what prompted the patient to escape from the hospital is yet to be ascertained, sources said. Hospital authorities however informed that the patient was admitted at the hospital on May 24 with shortness of breath.
