Silchar, May 27: A person with criminal charges who fled from the COVID-19 ward at the SM Dev Civil Hospital on Wednesday has been traced and recovered.
According to OC Silchar Sadar Ditumoni Goswami, the person is accused of committing crime and was hospitalised after being tested for COVID-19 positive. However, the accused person has been traced and sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) later in the night on Wednesday, the police officer informed.
On the other hand, asked about the security issues after such an incident, authorities of the Civil Hospital said that they are concerned as well and discussing options to heighten security arrangements at the hospital.
It may be mentioned that a patient admitted at the COVID-19 ward at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) who had fled from the hospital on Wednesday morning was brought back to the hospital by police on the same evening.
