COVID-19: Cachar DC clamps Sec 144, complete ban on public gathering across district

Silchar, Jul 10: In Cachar district, a total of 359 active cases of COVID-19 were detected till Friday. Out of the total, as many as 57 new cases including 19 RTPCR and 38 RAT cases were diagnosed on Friday itself.

While there have been constant echoes of the safety norms including messages of social distancing to be followed by people, in the backdrop of the simmering increase of cases has led the Cachar District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli IAS clamp Section 144 Cr.P.C throughout the district for containment of further spread and transmission of COVID 19 infection.

The order issued by the Cachar District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner stated that the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has also issued directive on Tuesday for containment of COVID 19 in both rural and urban areas across the state until further order.

The order also informed that Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a video conference held on 15th June with the Deputy Commissioners and SPs of all districts on management of COVID 19, issued directive to the DCs to zealously protect their districts and guard their borders by imposition of Section 144 Cr.P.C in order to discourage gathering and stop subsequent transmission of infection.
