Dhubri, May 27: The unused Kismat Hasdah Model Hospital, which remained un-operative after its completion in the year 2018, has been made functional by the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Kismat Hasdah Model Hospital, was an ambitious project of the state that aimed at facilitating the people living in the rural areas of Baladoba, Binnachara, Kedar, Nalia, Berbhangi, Dharmashala, Gaspara, Kahahat, Kismathasdah, Durahati, Tistarpar villages with good medical facilities. The model hospital situated at Kismat Hasdah village, under Kalahat GP that has been constructed with an amount of Rs 5.6 crore and its construction completed in June 2018, informs the local people who also expressed that the hospital after the completion of its construction remained abandoned.
However, during the First wave of the ongoing pandemic last year, the district administration used the hospital to keep the Covid Positive patients in the hospital. Later when the positivity rate declined, the Model Hospital was abandoned once again. Meanwhile, in the second wave this year the administration has again declared the Model Hospital as the Covid care Centre.
"We are fully ready to admit the Covid Positive patients this year too", said Dr. Samir Baidya, Nodal Officer at the Hospital. He also added that they have 150 beds to equip the patients. "the hospital also has enough arrangements for facilitating the admitted patients, whenever required", Badya added and informed that for taking care of the Covid Patients they have Six Medical Officers, Six Stuff Nurses and almost 20 other staff. Meanwhile, the locals hoped that the Hospital after the pandemic is over will function as a proper health care facility to serve the rural masses in the area.
"We were really hopeful that people from these rural areas will get good medical facilities," said Lakhan Ch. Roy, an advocate living in the area. "We hope that the model hospital will at least be helpful for emergency purposes and during delivery of pregnant women. But this hospital remained as an ornament and for all kinds of medical help our only resort is Dhubri Civil hospital, which is really far ", added Roy.
"Last year we hoped that after the Covid Cases declined, the hospital will help the rural people at Kismat Hasdah area buy functioning as an active health care facility for us, but the authorities abandoned the hospital in its earlier form", Roy said, "But this time be really believe that the hospital will remain functional forever . And the authorities will not remember this model hospital only when an emergency situation like a pandemic arises".
