Diphu, July 17: The contraband drugs confiscated from different places of the State by Assam police have been incinerated publicly at five mile, Diphu, near SAI complex along Diphu-Manja road here today. It may be mentioned here that the contraband drugs confiscated since last two months by the police have been scalded today in presence of Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
After carrying out the destroying programme of the seized illicit drugs Chief Minister, Himanata Biswa Sarma said that the State has been operating as a way of smuggling of drugs. In this case Assam Police has been doing admirable and remarkable tasks against the drugs smugglers.
Dr Sarma further said that 1493 numbers of drug peddlers have been arrested till date. Dr Sarma mentioned that drugs worth Rs. 168.38 crores have been seized from different parts in the State. While expressing satisfaction over the achievement and ensuring strategic sharp measurement in stopping drugs peddling, the Chief Minister admired the Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, DGP and Assam police.
