CM holds meeting to review COVID-19 situation in Assam

Dispur, May 11: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today held a meeting with the ministers Keshab Mahanta, Jogen Mohan and top officers at CM's conference room at Janata Bhawan to assess the situation arising out of the increasing COVID19 cases in the state and review the actions being taken to contain the same.

The Chief Minister directed for ensuring strict enforcement of restrictions to bring down positivity rate in the state. He directed the ministers and senior officers to extensively travel all corners of the state to contain the spread of the pandemic. The Chief Minister also reviewed the vaccination status, vaccine stock, availability of oxygen, essential medicines etc to effectively manage the situation.

Chief Minister Dr. Sarma also stressed on the importance of creating mass awareness to ensure strict adherence to COVID19 protocols by all sections of the society to arrest the rising number of cases. He directed to ensure rapid vaccination in big cities to restrict the spread of the pandemic to the villages.

Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua, DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Samir Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Anurag Goyal, Principal Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management Avinash Joshi, Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) G.P. Singh, MD NHM Assam Dr. S. Laxmanan, DC Kamrup Metro Biswajit Pegu were present in the meeting.
