Chatribari murder case: Three booked by police

Guwahati, Feb 22: At least three people have been booked by the police in the Chatribari murder case, wherein a businessman was fatally killed with a gun at point blank range on Monday night.

40-year-old Awdesh Kumar Yadav succumbed to his injuries after he was shot at by motorcycle-borne miscreants near his residence at Chatribari area in Guwahati. Although he was rushed to the hospital, he did not survive.

Yadav was a businessman who deals in gutkha and other products.

Soon after attacking Yadav, the miscreants managed to flee the scene. However, it came to light that the bike used by the miscreants which they left behind after committing the crime belong to one Abbas Ali from Kharupetia in Assam's Darrang district.

The police have launched an investigation following which three persons including Abbas have been apprehended by the police from Kharupetia.

As per reports, the police suspected that it could be a case of personal rivalry. Moreover, the traders body in Fancy Bazar have protested against the incident demanding justice for the deceased.
