Silchar, Aug 25: Cachar police rescued five children who had allegedly gone missing from the Ujjawala Shelter Home in Silchar.

Superintendent of Police Ramandeep Kaur, on Wednesday, informed that of the five children four are girls and one boy have been rescued and the matter is under investigation. A person who had allegedly helped the children in escaping from the shelter home has also been picked up.

"The children were rescued from different parts of the district. The eldest among the children is 20 year old. Based on the preliminary investigation, the children were en route to Bengaluru. The investigation is progress and we are looking into all possible dimensions of the case," the SP maintained.
