Cachar Police detains six in Silchar church incident

Silchar, Dec 28: Cachar Police has detained six youths so far in connection with the incident of youths being allegedly abused by a group of youths claiming to be Bajrang Dal cadres at the Presbyterian Church in the premises of Oriental School on the evening of Christmas last Saturday.

Superintendent of Police Ramandeep Kaur on Tuesday informed that all the six detainees are juvenile and interrogation in the case is underway as per the CrPC proceedings initiated by police.

It may be recalled that Mithun Nath, the Sanghathan Sampadak of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's Silchar bibhag had categorically said that the youths alleged in the incident do not seem to be registered members of the Dal and informed that they are analysing the incident.
